Planning Policy
Communities and Local Government determines national policies on different aspects of planning and the rules that govern the operation of the system.

The RTPI aims to lead policy debates, establish new approaches and influence the policies of others. The policy team keeps the development of planning legislation and policy under review and ensures the consistent application of RTPI policy on a wide range of topics.

As a companion to the two Urban Design Compendium publications this site provides guidance on good urban design – summarising the principles of urban design, how they can be applied and the processes which lead to successful places.
