BCP Council has confirmed that it is set to withdraw its draft Local Plan after it was rejected by the Planning Inspectorate.
It will start work on a new blueprint for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area, which will need to set out how the council will deliver nearly 3,000 homes per year under the government’s housing targets.
The council says that it aims to submit the revised local plan for examination in March 2028, following early public engagement, evidence updates over the next year and two rounds of public consultation in 2026 and 2027.
We will make our representations to the council in due course to help the council create a suitable plan. We hope that the council is prepared to make the tough decisions that are needed, releasing Green Belt land and giving a broader consideration to a general increase in development densities, that is really needed to deliver an appropriately aspirational plan for the area.
The council is also likely to issue a new call for sites to be considered for inclusion for development within the plan.
Please contact us to find out more about the Local Plan and if you have any land or sites which you believe may be suitable for consideration by the council.
