The Government is due to increase planning fees on Wednesday (December 6), with a significant increase of 35% for major applications and 25% for all other applications.
At the same time, a ‘free-go’ is being scrapped out, although free re-applications will be allowed for the next 12 months. There are also plans to double fees for retrospective planning applications, but legislation has not yet been passed on this yet.
We hope the additional fees will be used for improved resourcing of planning departments so that the application and pre-application service is improved but this will remain to be seen…
Please get in touch with us if you wish to discuss resubmitting a planning application or a retrospective application now to avoid the future increase in fees.
