SCHEMES ARE IN CREDIT

September 18, 2025

KPPC has welcomed changes to the Mitigation Projects credit scheme for the Poole Harbour Catchment area.

Credits to mitigate the nutrient impact of a development are now available on a continuous basis, with no more limited windows to apply.

This adjustment is positive for KPPC’s clients sites where this needs to be secured, and removes the need for this to be reasonably banked well ahead of time.

KPPC has been contacted by Dorset Council to advise of the change for both its own and Natural England’s credits system.

Applicants and interested parties for some sites in the Poole Harbour Catchment are required to buy credits to mitigate the impact of nutrients on the harbour from developments when completed, such as treated wastewater effluent from new homes.

Credits are used to fund mitigation activities, such as creating new woodlands or wetlands, with the aim of balancing out nutrient pollution produced by a development.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the team at KPPC to find out more about how the scheme affects your plans or project.
