Ken Parke led the charge against a refusal for a large format superstore at the edge of Christchurch town centre.

The appeal involved a complex mix of heritage and retail issues.  Ken and his team were able to demonstrate unequivocally that the proposal would not have a detrimental impact on the retail vitality or  heritage significance of Christchurch town centre.

This appeal win is significant in unlocking a long running battle between competing sites in Christchurch.  The win secures the future of the Beagle operation, which will now be able to relocate to a purpose built facility nearby within the district, and provides a much needed additional convenience offer to the town.

The planning approval brings with it many benefits including significant improvements to the immediate environment and transport network.

Ken Parke was also successful in securing costs against the council.
