Plans for three new apartment blocks to provide much needed housing in Christchurch, Dorset, have gained consent.

Ken Parke Planning Consultants Ltd (KPPC) secured the planning permission from BCP Council’s planning committee for a total of 38 flats at 215-225 Barrack Road in May 2022.

The consent allows for demolition of existing buildings to combine land and construct a mixture of one and two bedrooms in three separate blocks. Parking, landscaping and ancillary facilities are also included to the rear of the site.

The team at KPPC provided support for the applicant throughout the planning process to enable the scheme to progress and unlock a substantial site for much needed housing in Christchurch.

It allows for a comprehensive development on a key route into the centre of town in keeping with the existing street scene.

Biodiversity, drainage, highways, access, parking and landscape considerations were also taken into account as part of the approval process.

The original approval contained mostly one-bedroom flats – improvements were then made with a better standard and mix of accommodation in a well-designed, contemporary architectural style.

KPPC worked closely with Fordingbridge-based architects Brightspace on the project.
