KPPC Ltd gained planning consent for new housing in a rural setting despite conflicts with local and national policy.
It secured the approval from Dorset Council for replacement of a redundant agricultural building with two new homes at Loverley Farm in Moor Crichel, on the Cranborne Chase.
The full application was for two houses with four bedrooms each to replace a redundant barn within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Although an existing consent allowed for the conversion of the 1970s era barn into two semi-detached homes, this subsequent application allowed for a more environmentally sustainable building to provide a super-insulated structure to minimise energy use.
Despite the conflict with local and national policy, the council was convinced by detailed supporting evidence to support the application.
The approval allows KPPC Ltd’s client to breathe new life into a disused site and provide new, environmentally sustainable and much-needed homes in a rural location.
KPPC Ltd worked closely with Daly Martin Williams Architects, who delivered the architectural package for the project.
