Applicants in the Dorset Council area should be aware of another layer of detailed design requirements that will need to be submitted with their planning applications.

The requirements relate to energy consumption and sustainability. These matters are required in relation to building regulation approval and are mandatory.

It is not understood why such information should also be required at the pre-application stage and particularly in the context of a planning system that cannot cope with the existing level of information already required both in terms of capacity and expertise.
