Just under 50,000 planning applications were submitted online via Planning Portal in February, according to its latest Market Insight Report.

That represented a fall of 9% compared with February 2022 and a slight increase on the total of 48,107 applications in January of this year.

Year-on year householder applications were down with 15,281 submitted in February 2023, compared to 18,889 in February last year.

The total applications for the year so far are are up on 2018, 2019 and broadly in line with 2020 although considerably below the years of 2021 and 2022.
