Plans have been lodged for the regeneration of Salisbury’s landmark Cathedral Hotel.

KPPC submitted the formal planning and listed building consent applications with Wiltshire Council on behalf of owners Larasian.

The exciting scheme will transform the Grade-II listed property in Milford Street into a five star hotel with a rooftop ‘Spitfire’ bar offering stunning panoramic views over the city and its cathedral.

In addition, the new venue will feature 13 luxury suites, spa services, function rooms and alfresco dining in a private landscaped courtyard restaurant. It will have an interior inspired by local culture, history and craftmanship.

KPPC is working with owner Brian Currie and his company Larasian, DevComms and architects Corstorphine & Wright on the project.

Brian was born, educated and has spent most of his life in Salisbury.  His parents, Florence Crouch and William Currie, met while working in a Salisbury factory making Spitfire parts.

A model Spitfire will be installed in the rooftop bar in tribute to those who worked in Salisbury’s Spitfire factories like Mr Currie’s parents. Some 2,500 of the fighters were built in the city during the Second World War.

Planning director Adam Bennett is leading on the project for KPPC. The proposals were warmly received during public consultation earlier this year.

The regeneration will provide a significant economic benefit to Salisbury by generating new employment opportunities, drawing more visitors and in turn enable a significant uplift in visitor spending, contributing to the city’s long-term economic stability.

The council is expected to make its decision by the end of this year.
